Islam and the Temple in Jerusalem
2025 Vol. 4: Jul/Aug
The original concept of a Jewish Temple stems from the Tabernacle that Jehovah commanded Moses to build with the riches that the Jews took when they left Egypt. Six chapters of the Torah (Exod. 25-30) provide extraordinary details regarding both the planning and construction of this breathtaking portable structure, and the book of Hebrews provides further explanation. It served as a divine model of heaven (the Holy of Holies) and earth (the Holy Place) separated by a veil (sin). The Mercy Seat lid, with the Ark of the Covenant, pictured the Father in heaven while the Table of Unleavened Bread and the Oil Lampstand pictured the Son and Holy Spirit. The Altar of Incense, located as close to the Holy of Holies as possible, dispersed fragrance, representing the prayers of the saints.
