The Importance of the Word of God in Ministry to Muslims
2025 Vol. 3: May/June
Some individuals and ministry entities have sought after “silver bullets” or questionable methods and approaches aimed at facilitating a greater movement of Muslims towards Christ. One such “silver bullet” pertains to Scripture translation. Muslims embrace the mistaken idea that God (the Father) had a physical relationship with Mary and produced a son (Jesus Christ). Consequently, it is considered blasphemous for Muslims to refer to God as Father or Jesus as Son or Son of God. Some translators propose to eliminate the familial terms Father, Son, and Son of God, substituting them with alternative terms (e.g., “Guardian” for Father and “Beloved of God” for Son) to mitigate the offense caused by the original terms and render the Scripture “less offensive and more palatable” to Muslim audiences.
